This facility, currently used for
graduate research in Biomechanics, is adjacent to the LG Design laboratory .
The principal equipment installed is the Bose 3200 Electroforce machine
and the associated WinTest controls for load input and result display.
Its flexible hardware and
software platform allows for multiple axes, sensors and test chambers that can
be used when designing elaborate test applications. The advanced WinTest
software and PCI control facilitates time response analysis of test specimen.
Typical tests that can be carried
out are:
- Tension/Compression
- Axial Fatigue
- Axial/Torsion Fatigue
- Fretting Fatigue
- Viscoelastic Property Measurement
- Product Endurance
Typical materials that can be
tested in the laboratory are:
Biomaterials, Medical devices, Elastomers, Compliant bio-tissues,
Microelectronics, Films, Polymers, Fibers, Small components, Foods and fluids
(rheology).
